NEURAL COMMUNICATION AND ITS REGULATION AT SYNAPSES
.
We are interested in studying the Neuron and Synapses which shape and guide the processes of the Brain. Our long-term goal is to understand underlying mechanism of How neurons communicate each other through Synapses.
Our major questions in research
How neurons are connected in networks
How they communicate with each other once connected
How disease alters this basic functionality.
You can read on to find out more about these projects below.

OPTO-PHYSIOLOGY
.
Live-cell trace for synaptic physiology
synaptic vesicle fusion and retrieval using pHluorin based assay, Calcium sensor, and other fluorescence sensor combined with high-fidelity custom-built microscope system

HIGH FIDELITY LIVE IMAGING
.
To monitor synaptic physiology with high accuracy,
We utilize a custom-built laser illuminating imaging system.
It leads us to observe various synaptic events from a single synaptic vesicle at the millisecond scale.
